MOVING BOOKS! Jajajajan (English)

November 12, 2016

FunEdcuationalApps.com

A compilation of songs for children with diverse themes.

My kids are enthralled by any app that sings to them. Moving Books! Jajajajan is an extensive app, filled with fairytales and songs that are narrated and sung to children. Classic stories to cultural folktales, this app has a large selection of songs and stories.

Moving Books! Jajajajan (free) by FORii, lnc. is a collection of narrated stories and songs meant for children ages 3 to 8. At the time of this review, there were nine stories and 13 songs.  Upon opening the app, users click on the songs tab or the books tab to view the selections. Stories are stored in the cloud and are downloaded to the app with the touch of an icon. No password required. The songs and books are a mixture of classic fairy tales and cultural stories.

After downloading the story or song, the narration and animation begin automatically. Each has a control panel at the top of the screen to play, pause, loop, or rewind, and a timeline at the bottom to show how much of the story remains. The animations are a mixture of different styles. Some resemble puppets, others hand drawn illustrations, while some are more digital in appearance.  Each has the text of the song or story at the bottom as the narration occurs.  Additionally, the settings menu offers directions, options for deleting books and songs, and external links to the developer's website and App Store.

What Fun Educational Apps Liked

To be honest, while I wasn't completely taken with the app, my daughter loved it. She has downloaded all of the books and stories and watched them repeatedly. The animations seem most appropriate for the younger ages.  I liked the different mixture of styles used in the animations and stories.

I also liked that the app includes what appear to be folktales and songs from Asian cultures.  It provided a nice change of pace from the standard western classics.  One thing to note, the app is not ad free. Ads pop up along the bottom or top of the screen on the menu and during the story. Also, several times fullscreen video ads for different apps popped up without being clicked on. During the review, there were no inappropriate ads. It would be nice to have an option to go ad free.

Overall, Moving Books! Jajajajan is a nice collection of narrated stories and silly songs for young children. It's easy-to-use buttons make this an independent app for even our youngest users.

At the time of this review, the app had ads on screen and external links in the parent menu. Disclosure: This review was move up the waiting list priority-services. All opinions expressed are purely that of the author.
