Three young boys wonder one day, how far away do grandma and grandpa live? They want their grandparents to visit, but they live VERY far away, a 10-11 hour plane ride, in fact. And Grandma is afraid of flying. How can they help her? Their mother suggests an idea. Perhaps if they bake "courage cookies" grandma will feel better about the trip. Throughout this sweet story, kids can explore pages beyond the edges of the screen, find hidden suprises, solve puzzles and more!
This interactive storybook begins with an enchanting and engaging story. It is well-written and thoughtfully tailored to the interests of young children and their families. Filled with well-designed games and activities, this rich reading experience will enchant young readers for hours. The activities can interrupt the narrative, however, and are not easily skipped. Small hints are included but could be improved. The app includes over a half-dozen animated & interactive activities tied to the narravite, along with four games children can play at the end, based on the story and focused on educational objectives. They include pattern reconigtion, counting/addition, spatial awareness puzzles and memory games.
Overall, this is a delightful storybook, lacking only a way to read the book without any enhancements. This makes it an ideal choice for almost any time, besides bedtime, for readers ages 4+. Great themes make this a nice title to tailor for classroom or library use. Our little field-testers loved it and were especially fond of the games, playing long after the story was over. As parents, we were especially impressed that reading comprehension did not suffer at all as a result of all the digital additions ... our young testers could tell us the story in great detail after reading and playing together. Language options: Russian/English.
