A Hug and a Kiss for iPad/iPhone is from the Dutch team "Sieneke & Tineke" that created the toddler ebook: What are you Eating? reviewed earlier this month. This ebook is also for toddlers and is therefore very cute, but also short. It is perfect for little ones at bedtime and a consistent favorite of my child.
The sound effects are delightful. We especially liked the sound the snail makes when it gives its 'kiss'. There are a few sounds to trigger by tapping the pictures on every page. The animals make great sounds (kissing, roaring, etc.) and the little boy is adorable with his expressive sounds - from scared to silly.
The illustrations are hand-drawn and based on the toddler books this team created in print over the last decade. The print books were only available in Dutch (as far as I can tell by 'translating' some of their website pages) and much beloved in the Netherlands by parents & toddlers. This is an enjoyable and sweet title for the very littlest kids. My preschooler particularly enjoys this title before bed. Sometimes we improvise a last line, where another lovely kiss comes from mommy!

In this book for toddlers and young children, a little boy asks the question, "Looking for a nice kiss?" As the short book continues, he tries several kisses until he finds just the right one ... his cat kisses him (it tickles), a bee kisses him (it stings), a polar bear kisses him (it's cold), a fish kisses him (it's wet), a lion tries to kiss him but he runs away (it's too scary), his dog kisses him (it's sticky & slobbery), a bird kisses him (it's prickly), a giraffe tries to kiss him but he can't reach (it's too high), a hippo kisses him (it crushes him), a snail kisses him (it takes a long time - and sounds very slimy). Finally he gets a lovely kiss - from his 'little sis'!
