This is a short and informative ebook app about recycling. The little boy in the story is distressed to find his local park covered in trash, so he convinces his friends & neighbors to help him put up recycling bins to clean up the earth. He becomes 'Eco Boy' with cape, mask and superhero outfit. The park gets cleaned up, recycling is sorted and "the mission to keep planet earth greener and cleaner" becomes the boy's passion. A final page also has more information about recycling in simple terms that children can understand.
The book has cartoon-style illustrations that are clear and easy to explain to the youngest of kids. The book is also nicely narrated by a British English speaker. The text is easy enough to read, although it may be difficult for the youngest readers because of its style - white text, outlined in a bubble-like font on an otherwise white background.
The book clearly explains the meaning of the three R's: Reduce, Reuse & Recycle. Its story, while simple, is engaging and has an excellent educational message. This digital book is also solidly made with easy page turning and simple settings, including a page with more books from the series (currently just Vol. 2). There is also a nice page about the author.
My pre-schooler and I had a great little discussion while reading this story about the importance of buying/using less, re-using things and recycling, making this book a great conversation starter about an important topic. I was surprised to find out that my son, who is fascinated by the 'trash man', did not realize that all the trash goes into a landfill when we don't recycle. The next time we were shopping, he reminded me that we shouldn't buy things we don't need - a great sign that this book was not only fun to read but also something a child can take to heart and use in their everyday lives.

One day a little boy is strolling through his neighborhood park when he finds it full of rubbish. He runs home to tell his mother who suggests that he can "make a big difference starting by tiny little things that matter ..." Despite only being a little boy, he gets on his computer and researches ways to 'rescue planet earth'. When he learns about the concepts of 'reduce, reuse and recycle' (the three R's), he decides he can rally his neighbors to help him clean up the park. He puts on a superhero outfit and becomes 'Eco Boy'. First he goes to the Mayor's office and enlists his support. He obtains recycling bins for paper, glass, aluminum and plastic. Then he gets everyone to help pick up the trash. He explains to them the importance of keeping planet earth clean and green with the three R's.
