Elly the Reindeer is a cute cartoon-style reindeer. She has adventures with her animal friends in a sweet rural setting where all the child-like characters live in their own homes and look to each other for help, fun and solving the occasional dilemma. In this story Elly and her friends are trying to find something to do on a very rainy day. They end up singing 'Rain, rain, go away, come again another day,' and then seeing a rainbow appear as the sun comes out.
This cute series of books now has narration, beginning with this title. The reader is Rose Higham and her voice (with crisp British accent) is a lovely addition to the series. The app is short & sweet, still perfect for bedtime (and always a favorite of my preschooler). With features like simple swipe-style page turning and an easy to read font, these books are also a good choice for children learning to read.
All of the Elly books are enhanced with just a tiny bit of interactivity, and this one also features the same style of sound effects, with something on every page that is tied to the storyline, like splashing in puddles and singing at the end of the book. Each sound effect is triggered by tapping in a small circled image. This interactivity is a nice little extra, although it can interfere with the reading experience if tapped before the narration has finished.
Like the other Elly books, this title features the same child-like animal friends that demonstrate positive pro-social behavior toward each other. It is perfect for reading to young children at any time of day. With or without narration, this series is delightful and engaging for young readers and listeners.

In this ebook, the eighth Elly book in the series, Elly doesn't know what to do on a rainy day so she decides to call her friends on the phone. No one is home, so she ventures outdoors in her rain gear to look for them. Along the way she runs into a cute frog who splashes in the puddles alongside her until she comes upon each of her friends along the path. Soon all four friends and the frog are together and splashing when they decide to sing together. "Rain Rain Go Away, Come Again Another Day!" they sing. "Just then, as if by magic" the rain stops and a rainbow appears as the sun comes out. All the friends agree that is was a very fun rainy day after all.
