The Zany ABC of Naughty Names is a "mix & match book to shake & flip" that has three words to describe each picture based on all 26 letters of the the alphabet. The animals pictured for each letter are truly 'zany' (and not really 'naughty' if parents are worried about this), making for a hilarious trip through the ABCs. Find a horse dressed in his cowboy-best, pictured with a heart-shaped pillow under "Chaotic Couch-Cushion Cowbow" or an owl with underwear & hip glasses with the words "Ultracool Urban Underpant-Owl".
Each 'page' has expressive illustrations that capture the book's theme very well. The book is also solidly made with easy swiping for page turn (or flip). You can also 'shake' the device to get the triptych pages to arrive at a random combination. This is not only a fun way to 'mix up' this book but also causes a cool 'slot-machine' style rotation of the pages as they settle on each of the three panels. The app is also nicely narrated, although the font used is also a bit 'zany' which could be an issue for some early readers (although for a stylized font the letters are actually quite well-formed).
Overall, this is an adorable little digital 'flap-book' with an almost endless supply of funny combinations to enjoy. It combines creative adjectives and captivating illustrations to make learning (or reinforcing learning) of the alphabet a lot of fun. The words used may be over the heads of some young listeners, but then again, it might be a great way to help young children grow their descriptive dictionary. It would also be an excellent educational app for slightly older readers working on adjectives to expand their creative vocabulary.

The ABCs are presented in this book with three words to describe a picture for each letter, from "Absurdly Attired Ape" to "Zany Zazzy Zoon". Each page is in three pieces that move independently like a flap book, making it possible for hundreds of combinations of the three words. If you shake the book a random assortment of three words appears next to a 'mixed-up' image with three picture 'flaps' that create a 'zany' image.
