This is a well-crafted storybook app about a family living with a pet chicken named Diva. After criticizing her sister's pet, Candela discovers that Cari's beloved chicken is missing! Could the legendary Chupacabra have gotten to her first? Even Abuela believes in the monster, so when the two sister and their brother Beto venture into the woods to save Diva, many surprises are in store.
This title features great animation, interactivity and music ... but it is not narrated. Available in both English and Spanish within the same app, it is still a great read to share with children or have them read by themselves. With lots of suspense, cartoon-like animations and an engaging storyline, this title is sure to be a hit with young readers.
Audio is great in this app overall, with nice narration and great sound effects, plus 'mood music' to go with the story. However, on mute, the sound has some sort of bug (at least on my iPad 2), creating regular sounds that are very unpleasant. Since the story is not narrated, the sound is quite enjoyable, but if you choose to mute it, I recommend using the device's volume control rather than the in-app setting until an update fixes this bug.
Overall, this app is relatively well made with nice navigational settings and easy to read text. It is a rather long story but one that will engage older readers in particular. Very young children might find some elements of this story frightening, so parents should preview this app with their own child in mind. This is a truly fun story and a great app to share with children in English-Spanish bilingual households or for foreign language learners.
All reviews are of the app, not the platform/device. Based originally on iPad versions. Minor technical details may vary.

One day, an ordinary day like any other, a little girl named Cari fed her pets, giving her cat the last of the household's milk and feeding her chicken corn flakes. Her sister Candela is very upset to find the milk and cereal missing, but soon the whole family, including brother Beto, are in an uproar trying to find Cari's missing chicken, Diva. While watching TV the three siblings hear an announcement that chickens have been 'mysteriously disappearing from local farms without a trace!'
The three kids make up posters to try to find Diva, but soon they are calling Abuela (grandma) to find out if the chicken-eating monster called "Chupacabra" really exists. Abuela believes in it, so the kids frantically rush to the forest in the hopes of finding Diva before the Chupacabra does. They even bring garlic water to spray at the monster.
In the forest, after scaring themselves half to death, the trio discover that Diva is actually starring on a movie set, on location in their local forest. When Diva sees one of the assistants eating a chicken leg, she decides to quit. Candela apologizes for saying mean things about Cari's pet and the siblings head for home.
