"Little Fox liked to be naughty at night. His biggest wish in the whole world was that the darkness would last a very long time," begins this retelling of the traditional fable about the fox, the rooster and the sun. But even when little fox 'gets his wish' fulfilled, he is not happy. A moral story about being careful about what you wish for unfolds in this digital tale available in English & Chinese.
This book app is solidly made with simple but sufficient settings that include a home button and arrow page turning. Crisp, native narration is well done, although the text itself is very small and difficult to read at times. Interactive elements allow readers to move the sun to change the scenes from day to night as well as a variety of fun elements, like helping little fox to light a rocket jet-pack.
Overall, this is a fun tale, with simple graphics and less-than-polished production values that may impact the overall experience. Children will learn a lot from little fox, though, especially the most basic but valuable lesson that what we think we want most in the world may not be as great as we imagine.

A little fox is annoyed with the rooster because he always calls the sun to rise every day. The fox wants the night to stay and the sun to go away. After keeping the rooster from making noise one morning, little fox is disappointed that the sun still rises. His friend the weasel suggests using water to put out the sun, but alas this also doesn't work and the sun stays shining brightly in the sky. Finally he asks Mr. Woodpecker for help. He tells the fox to go north if he wants to be in a place without sun.
In the frigid north, little fox is very cold. A big bear comes after him and soon the fox is begging the woodpecker to come get him and take him home to a warm, well-lit place where the sun comes up everyday. Perhaps little fox will revise his wishes based on these new experiences with a world in constant darkness.
