The Wrong Side of the Bed is a wonderful, original and beautifully illustrated ebook that is delightful in both 2D & 3D. The book is about a little boy who wakes up on the wrong side of the bed. And I mean the REALLY wrong side of the bed as in under the bed, and then he walks on the ceiling. The book continues in this manner with Mott riding on the ceiling of the school bus and then flying into space before returning to earth at the end of the day. It ends with the little boy being very careful to get up on the right side of the bed the next morning.
When this book recently made our top 10 bedtime book list, I re-read it with my son and we discovered that the developer had added interactivity, sound effects and a tiny bit of the cutest animation. It is a great example of an ebook app with just the right amount of extra features based on what will make the story better, not just more fun. On his adventure, Mott now has the most expressive sighs and he climbs, nods and dangles precariously during his crazy, upside-down day. My son especially liked being able to touch/tickle little Mott to see the animation.
For the 3D version, you will need special glasses. I ordered two pairs from the developer and received them in the mail very quickly (for only $1.50 total). They are the old-school red/blue glasses if you have a pair already. But this story is such a treat and the graphics are so nice in 2D that I wouldn't wait for the glasses (although they are a fun touch). Little Mott is adorable and this makes an excellent bedtime read.
The book is nicely narrated, solidly made and now features just the right amount of interactivity and animation. While you will enjoy this book anytime you want to read a classic-feeling storybook on the iPad, it is an especially perfect book for bed, no matter what side of it you find yourself on.

Little Mott wakes up one morning on the wrong side of the bed. He is actually on the underside of his bed and when he tries to get up, he finds himself walking on the ceiling. Everything is upside down in the book as his mom peeps in, not seeing him way up there, to tell him that breakfast is ready. He follows her into the hall, hanging down from the banisters. His breakfast is served on the underside of the plate. His parents are oblivious to his predicament. He rides the bus on the ceiling, bumping along. Then he gets off the bus into thin air, since he has no where to step off. Soon he is floating in outer space with the world a tiny speck below. Soon he is so far into space that he can't tell upside from downside. When he comes down to earth he rights himself, going to bed for the night and being sure, in the morning, to get up on the right side of the bed this time. Cute in 2D or with 3D glasses available from the developer for a small fee. A truly whimsical story that little ones will ask for again and again!
