This cute title from PicPocket Books features a kid-pleasing story about two brothers who make a lot of messes and give their parents grief at bedtime. At the end of a tiring day (which includes getting their toys taken away as punishment for being unruly), the children tell their mom and dad, "You're the worst parents ever!"
As they are about to fall asleep, one brother says to the other, "I wish we were the parents." In the morning, the boys discover they've been granted their wish and wake up as the parents in charge of a little boy and girl version of mom and dad. This Freaky Friday style plot will have young readers on the edge of their seats to find out what happens next in this story of wish-fulfillment turned life-lesson.
As a digital offering, the book lacks interactivity but has light animation, including fun effects like the lights turning out in the boys bedroom. The format is simple in this app-book presentation, but it is well-made and enjoyable. Like other PicPocket releases, it has easy swipe-style page turning, a clear font and nice narration (which highlights word-for-word).
A couple basic settings allow users to control the audio and highlighting, but additional navigation settings are lacking. It would be nice to see a page guide or at least a home button. Otherwise, The Worst Parents Ever is a perfect bedtime story that is guaranteed to elicit smiles and giggles (and might even inspire better behavior).

What’s wrong with using Mom’s good silverware to make a racetrack or throwing clothes around the room in a bouncing tornado when two zany brothers, Hank and Jack, are having an afternoon of pure fun? It makes a huge mess. And someone’s got to pick it up. When their parents demand they stop having fun and clean up, Hank and Jack make a wish to switch places with their parents so they can call the shots. But, instead of maximizing the fun, the boys soon learn that being the parents is not as amusing as they thought.
A sweet story with fantastic illustrations and exciting animation, The Worst Parents Ever shows that when the whole family pitches in, it leads to a lot more fun for everyone.
