Connor the Cockatoo and the letter C is a great little book to emphasize which words start with C. It has whimsical hand drawn illustrations of most of the "C" words mentioned in the story, to give visual reinforcement, along with text that highlights as it is narrated. This is a very short book that is the first in a series of books, each about a different letter of the alphabet. If it were a print book, I can imagine it as a toddler board book.
This story is interactive, with several subtle animations and lots of sound effects. My little boy especially liked the whimsical alligators rowing their boats and the little crab that sits shivering on a rock near a river. The crab makes a shivering sound when tapped which was enjoyed by my son almost as much as the sound of the caterpillars 'munching'. The sound effects were very authentic and enjoyable.
The animation was a bit inconsistent throughout the book, though, with some animations flowing smoothly and others seeming a bit choppy, particularly when Connor moves his wings. The visual image of the car also 'vibrates' in a way that wasn't entirely pleasant, although I'm not sure how to animate this better. It did capture the 'jalopy' feel of a car chugging along, which matches the 'model-T' sounding horn that honks when you tap Connor's convertible.
Overall, though, this a cute little book and it did improve my child's recognition of words that start with "C" as well as the concept of starting sounds of words. Since my little guy is learning to read, I was impressed that just a few 'trips' with Connor through the countryside, seemed to help him answer more thoughtfully when I asked, "Can you name something that starts with C?" Now if I can just get a book that will help me explain why "Kitchen" doesn't start with a "C", I'll be all set!

This short book about the letter C is like one long tongue-twister, with lots of fun alliterations using the letter C. Connor the Cockatoo rides around in a crimson convertible. As he drives he passes chirpy chicks, cornfields and a cow. Then he gets out of the car to look at his crops. He grows cabbage and carrots but is dismayed to find 'creepy crawly caterpillars' crunching on his crops.
As he continues on to the castle, he passes a comical clown and a river full of crocodiles canoeing past a cold little crab. When Connor gets to his cottage, he parks in his carport before going in to color cards with crayons. Then he makes a cake before compiling complex code by candlelight. He ends his day by closing the curtains and saying goodnight to his cat, curled up on cushions.
