Moon and Sun - Children's Book by Marcio Monteiro tells the story of two lonely children, the Sun and the Moon. They live separate lives, never imagining the other exists. Until the day that Moon climbs down from the sky and finds the Sun. The two become fast friends, enjoying the days and nights. Follow the two friends as they learn the joys of friendship and the ensuing stars that are born.
This storybook is filled with whimsical illustrations that tell the tale of two new friends. As children engage in the story, they tap to find smooth animations as Sun and Moon dance and play. Tapping in other areas of the page elicits a relaxing swirl of dots, and occasionally other small animations. Tapping on specific words reads the page again.
Additionally, users can access the story in either Read to Me format or "I wanna read" for no narration. Both the narration and text can be switched from English to French or Brazilian Portuguese. A menu page is available in tile format for easy access to every page.
What Fun Educational Apps Liked:
This is a sweet story about friendship. Using the sun and moon as the main characters is a neat twist that draws parallels between the relationship of these celestial bodies and two friends. I liked that they explained in a sweet way how the sun and moon are sometimes in the sky together, or not in the sky at all, because they got lonely and wanted to see each other. I also loved the swirling stars that sprung from the friendship. The animations are simple, but the swirling dots were nearly addicting in their simplicity. Children can still find the animations without becoming distracted by them.
Overall, Moon and Sun is a nice bedtime story that will leave children with a contented feeling of relaxation. With a good message and lovely illustrations, it's an easy book to add to your digital bookshelf.
