This non-fiction title is chock-full of interesting facts and inspiration for young philosophers aged 6-10+. Featuring facts and activities for young learners in elementary school, this app presents the basics of philosophical thought for the very young. The format, digitally, is more like an eBook (iBooks/Kindle) vs an app with interactive elements.
Children can tap for more information, to hear the page narrated or turn to the next page. There is no animation or other 'special effects' which may disappoint some users of the iPad. However, this is a solid app with great information that would be ideal for classroom use in particular. Any teacher of philosophy at the elementary level would find this app a useful resource. There are several other editions (seven so far) of this "ThinkAboutIt" series for exploration.
Overall, this is a good series for educational use, while a bit 'underwhelming' for iPad users expecting the 'wow' factor. These apps are purely designed for educational use (homeschool or classrooom), so should not be judged against entertainment apps. With this lens, this app series is exceptional, providing concrete facts about philosophical reasoning and historical philosophers.
